The Silver Dollar Classic, held Feb. 24 to March 1, drew competitors from coast to coast to the South Point Hotel Casino Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year’s show featured a full slate of American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) classes as well as added money Open events including Novice Horse Western Pleasure (Open and Limited divisions), Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle (Open and Limited divisions). Non-Pro added money classes included Novice Horse Western Pleasure and Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle. Officiating this year were: judges this year include Debbie Cooper, Larry Hansch, Holly Hover, Brad Kearns, Lisa Moden, Scott Neuman, Michelle Pearson, Rhonda Repogle, Sara Simons, Chris Thompson, Brent Tincher and Kendra Weis.
Show managers said although final tallies are not yet available, it is safe to say entries increased over last year’s show. Organizers worked hard to design a schedule that would be most convenient for work and school, by featuring Amateur and Youth classes Friday through Sunday. They also took into the consideration the schedule at this year’s Arizona Sun Circuit, which begins later this week.
