The Midwest Appaloosa Classic, held Aug. 5-6, at the Minnesota Equestrian Center, turned out to be a rainy weekend but that didn’t deter exhibitors.

“We have definitely seen an increase in entries this year,” said Wissota Appaloosa president Sara Schwartz.

It was the first time the Classic has been held at the 342-stall facility located at the very southwest edge of Minnesota and the positive feedback was overwhelming.

The show featured a variety of classes, including Ranch Riding, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and the very popular Most Colorful At Halter classes.

Chloe Nelson piloted The Tequilas Up Top to victory in the Green Hunter Under Saddle. “Tequila,” is owned and trained by Chloe Nelson of CC Show Horses in Brainerd, Minnesota.

“I’m very happy with how she has performed today,” Nelson said.

Judges for the Midwest Appaloosa Classic included Paul Filzen and Lita Hottel.
