The 2016 Masters Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle classes saw some familiar faces at the top of the judges’ cards.

Beth Case opened the evening of festivities with a unanimous win in the Masters Hunter Under Saddle class riding Because Shes Worth It, owned by Thomas Lukenbill, Chino Hills, California. The win was worth $15,000.

Case also won the Masters Hunter Under Saddle in 2015, 2009 and 2008.

Because Shes Worth It is sired by Hot Ones Only and is the first Paint to win the Masters Hunter Under Saddle. She was raised by Lukenbill and will next show at the APHA World Show in November.

Hidden Agenda, a bay mare by Hot N Blazing out of Assets Agenda, was Reserve Champion of the Hunter Under Saddle Masters class with Scott Jones in the irons. Hidden Agenda is owned by Jerry & Vicky Strickland, Jonesboro, Arkansas and earned $5,950. The Limited Champion was Get Your Shine On, a brown stallion by Allocate Your Assets and out of Shining Detail. Carmen Mayabb rode Al Get Your Shine On for owner Nichole McColley, earning $7,500.

“He can be quite mischievous on the ground but is very easy and quiet to ride,” Mayabb said. “He’s a good trotter, a great loper and a ton of fun.”

Judging the class of nine entries were: Rick Christy, Michael Colvin, Kendra Weis and Garth Gooding.

Jay Starnes also recorded his fourth Congress Masters Western Pleasure win on Saturday night – this year aboard Extremely Late, a bay gelding by Extremely Hot Chips owned by Brenda Yates, Wedgefield, South Carolina. The win was worth $30,000.

“Flynn showed really well tonight and handled the stress of the show great,” Jay said. “Next up will be the AQHA World Show in November.”

Extremely Late is out of Flashin My Assets, by Radical Rodder.

“Jay and I raised him,” said Kristy Starnes. “He has been at our place since birth. We sold him at six-months-old to a client, Aina Bittle from New Jersey and then sold him again to current owner Brenda Yates this spring.”

The Starnes family is excited about the future.

“Flash, is currently in foal to 2014 Congress Masters Champion, The Lopin Machine,” Kristy said. “She will have an embryo flushed to Extremely Hot Chips in 2017.
