AQHA and NSBA trainer Lee Paul Shinn passed away today in Florida at the age of 57.

Shinn grew up showing horses in Texas first in the 4-H program and then in American Quarter Horse Association sanctioned shows. His first job in the equine industry, right out of high school, was working with Halter horses at the Wilson Ranch. Over the years, he trained Western Pleasure and Halter contenders but found his real passion in English events.

In the early 2000s he moved to Florida at the encouragement of Andy Moorman, Sandy Vaughn and Rick Skelly and worked with them, before becoming the head trainer at Head at Prince Farm in Palmetto, Florida. In 2017, he won the Junior Hunter Hack at the National Snaffle Bit Association’s World Championship Show with Metallic Iron and in 2018 he showed the 2013 bay stallion to a Reserve Superhorse title at the AQHA World Championship Show by placing third in Junior Pleasure Driving, fourth in Junior Working Hunter, fifth in Performance Halter Stallions and seventh in Junior Hunter Hack.

Information on arrangements will be announced as soon as they become available.
