AQHA’s Charlie Menker passes

ACharlie MenkerQHA Honorary Vice President Charlie Menker of Brookville, Ohio, will be remembered by many as a great horseman and a leader in the industry. 

Charlie was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, where he worked for General Motors until he retired. Upon retirement, he opened Rockin M Trailer Sales and Service.  

As an AQHA life member, Charlie was involved early on with horses. He had served on the AQHA youth committee since 1985, was a ring steward at the Youth World Show and named AQHA honorary vice president in 2009. 

Charlie served as the Ohio Quarter Horse Association president from 2003 to 2004 and in 2011. Not only did Charlie make his life work about horses, but he enjoyed sharing his passion with the world. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church (1000 W. Wenger Rd., Englewood) with Father Jim Seibert, C.P.P.S. as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville. 

If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Charles H. & Judith A. Menker Youth Scholarship Fund (400 Union Blvd., Englewood, OH 45322) envelopes will be provided. Condolences and memories of Charlie may be sent to the family online atwww.KindredFuneralHome.com.
