Alan Fisher, of Eastover, North Carolina, piloted Potential Code Red to a win today in the InStride Edition $1,000 added 3-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure at the Virginia Classic Quarter Horse Show Circuit in Lexington. The bay roan colt is by VS Code Red and out of Potentials Ziplark (Potential Investment). He is owned by Paula Balgera, of Australia, and takes home a check for $600 for his win in the class.
“They bought and sent ‘Rio’ to me as yearling,” Alan said. “I showed him quite a bit as a 2-year-old, at the Little Futurity, Powers and NSBA World Show. He is extremely good minded and will try so hard for you…actually too hard sometimes. Today he was very good. I just tried to stay out of his way and let him do his thing.”
Fisher plans to show Potential Code Red at major shows and futurities throughout the year, including the Little River Circuit and Tom Powers Futurity.
Fisher said Balgera, who has enjoyed quite a successful show career herself in Australia plans to get to the United States to show Potential Code Red in Non-Pro events.
Alan’s wife, Shannon Fisher, was not to be outdone. She followed up her husband’s victory with a victory of her own aboard Lacey Red Dress in the $250- added NSBA 3-Year-Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure. It was her first ride on the mare sired by Im Good Undressed.
“Coming to the Virginia Classic is a tradition for us,” Alan said. “And with InStride Edition providing the Limited class I was excited to come.

Jay Starnes and A Lazy Investment won on two cards while Im Single Tonight and Shane Pope captured the other top award.
A Ranch Special Event closed out the day and included open and amateur classes in Ranch Riding and Ranch Rail, reportedly being added as an AQHA class in the next few years.
Judges for this year’s show include: April Devitt, Casey Devitt, Brad Kearns, Rick Christy, Ryan Kail and Jeff Allen.
The InStride Edition $1,000 added 3-Year-Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle will be featured on Saturday followed by the running of the sixth annual Hylton Maiden 3-Year-Old & Over Western Pleasure.
The Virginia Quarter Horse Association is holding a silent auction on the concourse. Proceeds directly benefit the youth competitors in the state.
