APHA renews partnership with Breeders Halter Futurity

APHA and the Breeders Halter Futurity are renewing the successful partnership between the APHA World Championship Show and the premier halter competition for a fourth year.A total of $20,000 will be available in 2019 for Paint Horses competing at both the APHA World Championship Show and the Breeders Halter Futurity.

The additional bonus money will be paid to weanling foals that show in the 2019 Breeders Halter Futurity and also show in one of the following Amateur weanling halter classes at the 2019 APHA World Championship Show.

  • Amateur Weanling Stallions
  • Amateur Weanling Mares
  • Amateur Weanling Geldings
  • Amateur Solid Paint-Bred Weanling Stallions & Geldings
  • Amateur Solid Paint-Bred Weanling Mares

The $20,000 bonus—contributed equally by APHA and the Breeders Halter Futurity—will be paid at the APHA World Championship show, based on final placings at that competition and paid via APHA’s payout schedule to the recorded owner at the time of the class. The same Amateur exhibitor must participate in both the Breeders Halter Futurity and the APHA World Show to be eligible. No additional entry form or fee is required to compete for the added cash.

The 2019 Breeders Halter Futurity takes place Sept.11–15 in Des Moines, Iowa. This progressive halter competition is open to horses registered with APHA, AQHA, ApHC, PHBA, IBHA, ABRA and ARHA sired by participating stallions; the Breeders Halter Futurity awards cash and prizes valued at more than $1 million annually. The 2019 APHA World Championship Show takes place September 16–29 in Fort Worth, Texas. The premier competition for registered Paint Horses, the APHA World Show features nearly 300 classes across a variety of disciplines, including world championship classes, added-money events and its own Breeders’ Futurity classes. In 2018, nearly $500,000 was available to World Show halter exhibitors. Horses must qualify to compete at the World Show based on participation at APHA-approved shows during the qualifying period, though weanlings are among those horses exempt from the qualifying requirements.
