AQHA Crowns Farnam Superhorse in Oklahoma City

superhorse-watermarkDuring the past week, the top exhibitors and horses from around the world have competed at the 2015 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.  

The 2015 Farnam Superhorse Award is the top honor at the Lucas Oil World. It is awarded to the horse that earns the most points in three or more Level 3 events in three categories during the show. This year, 25 contenders competed for the Farnam Superhorse Award.

Snap Krackle Pop, owned by Twylla Lynn Brown of Perry, Missouri, was crowned the 2015 Farnam Superhorse on November 15. The 2010 gray mare, who is by RL Best Of Sudden and out of Brandys Silver Sheik, was bred by Masterson Farms LLC of Somerville, Tennessee. Snap Krackle Pop was shown by AQHA Professional Horseman Blake Weis of Moberly, Missouri, and AQHA Professional Horsewoman Jill Newcomb of San Marcos, California. The team earned 37 points. Snap Krackle Pop won the world champion title in junior western riding and junior trail and placed eighth in junior western pleasure and 10th in performance halter mares. The Farnam Superhorse receives $25,000, plus $2,000 of Farnam product, a WeatherBeeta blanket, an original Lisa Perry bronze and a rose bouquet.

The Reserve Farnam Superhorse was DT Sugar Chex Whiz, owned by Dixon Flowers Quarter Horses of Nowata, Oklahoma. The 2010 black mare, sired by Shiners Lena Chex and out of King Snazzy Sugar, was bred by Canyon Horse Sales LLC of Bend, Oregon. DT Sugar Chex Whiz was shown by AQHA Professional Horseman J.D. Yates of Pueblo, Colorado. The pair earned a total of 30 points. DT Sugar Chex Whiz won the world championship title in junior tie-down roping and placed third in junior heeling. The Reserve Farnam Superhorse received a price package that included $10,000, plus $1,000 in Farnam product.

Placing third was DT Sugar Shine Whiz, owned by AQHA Professional Horseman C. R. Bradley of Collinsville, Texas. The 2010 black mare, sired by Shiners Lena Chex and out of King Snazzy Sugar, was bred by Canyon Horse Sales LLC of Bend, Oregon. The pair earned a total of 28 points. DT Sugar Shine Whiz won the world championship title in junior heeling and placed fourth in junior tie-down roping.

Placing fourth was Smart Nu Shiner, owned by Mike L. Van Egdom of Rock Valley, Iowa. The 2009 buckskin stallion, who is by Smart Shiner and out of Annies Lu Lena, was bred by American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductee Carol Rose of Gainesville, Texas. Smart Nu Shiner was shown by AQHA Professional Horseman J.D. Yates of Pueblo, Colorado, and Dustin Rogers of Pueblo, Colorado. The pair earned 22 points. Smart Nu Shiner placed fourth in senior heading, seventh in ranch riding and ninth in performance halter stallions.

Placing fifth was Tagged With Rush, owned by the Sather Family Partnership of Manson, Washington. The 2010 sorrel mare, sired by Whiz N Tag Chex and out of Rush N Cat, was bred by Lorenzo Lotti of Whitesboro, Texas. Tagged With Rush was shown by AQHA Professional Horseman Brad Lund of La Cygne, Kansas. The pair earned a total of 21 points. Tagged With Rush won the reserve championship title in junior heading and placed seventh in heeling.

The third- through fifth-place Farnam Superhorses each receive $2,500 plus $500 in Farnam product.
