AQHA Expands Level 2 Championships for 2016

youth-performance-halterWhen the Adequan® Level 2 championship classes launched at the 2015 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, their debut was met with enthusiasm from exhibitors, owners and professionals. In fact, the addition of the Adequan® Level 2 classes increased Lucas Oil World entries by 32 percent over the previous year.

Based on the success of the inaugural Adequan® Level 2 championships in the amateur and open divisions, and with the support of AQHA Partner Luitpold Animal Health as the presenting sponsor, additional opportunities will be added in 2016 and 2017 for Select and youth exhibitors.

Select: As well as qualifying and showing at the Adequan® Select World Championship Show in a particular class, new this year is that those same Select exhibitors/horses can also qualify and show in the same class in the 2016 Adequan® Level 2 amateur championships held concurrently with the Lucas Oil World in Oklahoma City.

  • To qualify, exhibitors must be eligible to compete in Adequan® Level 2 per the amateur point ranges for that class and must earn the required number of points (half the amount required for Level 3 amateurs). The qualifying period is August 1, 2015, through July 31, 2016.

Youth: Youth exhibitors can qualify for the 2017 Adequan® Level 2 youth championships held concurrently with theBuilt Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

  • To qualify, youth exhibitors must be eligible to compete in Adequan® Level 2 and must earn the required number of points (half the amount required for Level 3). The qualifying period is May 1, 2016, through April 30, 2017.

At the Adequan® Level 2 championships, exhibitors compete against riders of the same skill and experience level for specially designed trophies, buckles sponsored by Adequan®, jackpots (excluding the youth division) and the title of Adequan® Level 2 champion.

“All of us at Luitpold Animal Health are excited to help bring greater recognition to the Level 2 exhibitors and horses,” said Allyn Mann, director of Luitpold Animal Health. “Not only will the Adequan® Level 2 classes create more opportunities in the show arena, but it will also help create more awareness about the health needs for our horses.”
