The AQHA Level 1 Championship Shows concluded last weekend with a week worth of classes to determine the best Level 1 riders across the country. Rookie classes and Level 1 classes are two levels of AQHA competition designed for everyone from the beginner to the minimally accomplished competitors in AQHA events, respectively.

It has been a dream come true to show for my very first time within the Quarter Horse industry at the Novice Championships Show. I got into Quarter Horses because they are very laid back and I’m older and wanted something that was reliable,” said Sally Manahan of Charleston, West Virginia.”I first purchased Snooki in January under the guidance of Randy and Shelly Wilson. My trainers have prepared me for this special show by practicing my strengths and weaknesses and assuring I am confident upon entering the show pen. I’m very excited!”

According to AQHA’s Manger of Shows Justin Billings, the AQHA Level 1 East was not only the largest one this year, but also the largest show ever held at The World Equestrian Center. In addition to classes several Ride The Pattern Clinics were offered by some of the industry’s top judges and trainers.

The World Equestrian Center is a really well put together facility for the amount of horses and the type of show this is,” said Ana Cramer of Cummings, Georgia. “Nothing is super crowded, the arenas have great footing and the people that come to these shows are really friendly and easy to get along with.”

Judges for this year’s show included Scott Neuman, Billings, Montana; Jennifer Goss,; Martinsville, Indiana; Eric Petersen, Mabel, Minnesota ; Brett Clark, Horace, North Dakota; Kerry Allen, Rockville, Virginia; Lori Gordon, Washington, Pennsylvania
