Brandon Burr of Rochester, Indiana, piloted Im The Dude a 2012 bay gelding by Lazy Loper and out of Ms Machine, to a win Friday in the $1,000 added InStride Edition 3-Year-Old Limited Horse Limited Rider Western Pleasure at the Virginia Classic Quarter Horse Show Circuit in Lexington.
Im The Dude is owned by Allen and Marilyn Wade of and is fresh off a Limited Open Novice Horse Reserve Championship at the Madness in Wilmington, Ohio two weeks ago.
The InStride Edition class was the highlight of a full day of competition at the Virginia Horse Center. Pleasure Driving, Horsemanship, Trail and Western Pleasure competition kept exhibitors busy well into the late afternoon
Shannon Fisher, of Eastover, North Carolina, won the 3-Year-Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure aboard She Dresses To Win, sired by Im Good Undressed and out of Radical Rosita.
For One Night Only, owned by Capital Quarter Horses, Pilot Point, Texas won the 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure with Rusty Green aboard. For One Night Only is sired by Invitation Only and out of Radical Zippette.
Pat Heeley traveled from Van Meter, Iowa to show in the Hylton Maiden 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure on Saturday but on Friday he won a tough class of 17 in the Green Western Pleasure on two of the three judges’ cards aboard Im Lazy.
Following the Western Pleasure classes Ranch Riding took center stage in the indoor arena for a Special Event.
Saturday’s competition will begin with Showmanship, followed by Halter, Western Riding, Reining, in the Coliseum. In the East Arena Hunter Hack, Working Hunter, Equitation Over Fences, Jumping, Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation will be featured.
InStride Edition will sponsor its $1,000 added Limited Horse Limited Rider Hunter Under Saddle as well.
The Harris Versatility Challenge returns to the Virginia Classic this year. Horse and rider combination are competing in three classes – Challenge Western Riding on Thursday, Challenge Trail on Friday, and Challenge Western Pleasure on Saturday. The overall winner will be announced on Saturday.

Over 20 horses will compete in the Hylton Maiden 3 & Over Western Pleasure class Saturday evening, according to show organizers. Held for the fifth year at the four-day AQHA circuit, the class is presented thanks to financial support from Cecilia Hylton of Gainesville, Virginia.
