Masters Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure winners

VS The First Lady

A total of nine horses competed for a total purse of $25,360 in the Congress Masters Hunter Under Saddle Saturday night.

Best Jazz Album Yet, a bay stallion, sired by Allocate Your Assets and out of Jazzy Details, claimed the top spot with Deanna Searles in the irons.  Best Jazz Album Yet owned by Deanna’s husband, Jim Searles. The win was worth $10,000 and Searles walked away with another $5,000 for being the highest placing limited rider. The earnings on Saturday put Deanna over the $250,000 in earnings required to be included in the National Snaffle Bit Association’s Quarter Million Dollar Club and she was honored by the association with flowers in the arena.

Reserve Champion in the class was Maid In Hooville, a bay mare sired by Hot Ones Only and out of Beautiful Maiden. She is owned by Tammy Dyer and was shown by Beth Case, earning $4,160.

Judges for the class were: Leslie Vagneur Lange, Tanya Muse Green, Andrea Simons and Chris Thompson. Other placings included:

3rd – Without Permission, bay gelding (The Ultimate Fancy x My Favorite Uncle (TB) owned by Joanne Taylor and shown by Dawn Baker; $3,040.

4th – Sheza Iron Marecedes, chestnut mare (Iron Enterprise x Good Marecedes) owned by Meaghan Whelan, shown by Keith Miller; $2,080.

5th – Kruzin In Style, bay mare (The Krymsun Kruzer x Show Me The Luv) owned by Jennifer Conny and shown by Heidi Piper; $1,600

6th – Al Toast To That, brown gelding (Allocate Your Assets x Fabulicity), owned and shown by Amber Hanson Pickard; $1,440 and $3,000 for placing second in the Limited Division.

7th – Hoo Cares, (Hot Ones Only x Beautiful Maiden) owned by Alexandra Chavez and shown by Troy Lehn ; $1,280 and $2,000 for placing third in the Limited Division.

8th – Escapingwiththegoods, brown mare (The Only Escape x Good N Glamorous) owned by Tracy Harrell and shown by Joy Wheeler; $960.

9th – Tails Never Fail, bay gelding (Coats N Tails x Fun Lovin Luke), owned by Jessica Alleman and shown by Jennifer Leckey; $800.

Following the Masters Hunter Under Saddle awards, a total of 17 maiden 2-year-old Western Pleasure prospects competed in the Masters Western Pleasure, all looking to collect a portion of the $50,000 purse.

Aaron Moses rode Kristen Galyean’s red roan mare, VS The First Lady, sired by Kristen’s stallion, VS Code Red and out of Cool Lookin Lady, to the top spot, taking home the biggest check for $25,000.

Reserve Champion was Believe It Or Not, a sorrel mare by RL Best Of Sudden and out of Always Invite Holly. Believe It Or Not is owned by Kent Ray Taylor and was shown by Rusty Green. They earned $6,500 for their efforts.

Judges for the class were: Bruce Walquist, Tony Burris, Buddy Fisher and Maike Hay. Other placings included:

3rd – Classically Lazy, bay mare (Lazy Loper x Certainly A Classic) owned by Rawlings Enterprises and shown by Jay Starnes; $4,750.

4th – Shesa Candy Machine, chestnut mare (Machine Made x Shes No Secret) owned by Scott and Linda Berwick and shown by Angie Rigdon Cannizzaro; $3,250.

5th – KM Cheerstothebest, bay gelding (RL Best Of Sudden x Absolut Martini Girl) owned by Masterson Farms and shown by Casey Willis; $2,500.

6th – No Doubting Me, sorrel gelding (No Doubt Im Lazy x Ima Potential) owned by Sue Sanken and shown by Brian Baker; $2,250.

7th – Best Brew At The Bar, chestnut stallion (The Best Martini x Prissy Legs) owned by Ernest Branson and shown by David Archer; $2,000.

8th – Keeping Vitals Good, bay mare (Keeping It Good x Get Her Vitals ) owned by Ron Shelly and shown by Randy Wilson; $1,500.

9th – Chexy When Im Lopin, brown stallion (Lazy Loper x She Bee A Chex) owned by Cathy Corrigan Frank and shown by Shane Pope; $1,250 and $5,000 for Champion in the Limited Division

10th – Always Original, bay mare (No Doubt Im Lazy x Chips Original Cooki) owned by Tamara Ray and shown by Cole Baker; $1,000.

11th – U R Certain To Look, sorrel stallion (Certain Potential x I Caught U Lookin) owned by Beth Zagelmeyer McNichol and shown by Karen Hornick.

12th – Bet N On A Dream, sorrel mare (Ima Platinum Dream x Zippos Petite Lady) owned by Donna Grosse and shown by Travis Duit; $3,000 for second in the Limited Division.

13th – VS Life Support, red roan mare (VS Flatline x Cool Krymsun Lady) owned by Francesca Wierda and shown by Patrick Heeley.

14th – Takealitleridewithme, sorrel gelding (Facebook Me x Rachaels First Chex) owned by Ronald Plantz and shown by Jamie Zuidema; $2,000 for being third in the Limited Division.

15th – My Wild Invitation, bay mare (Invitation Only x Wildly Available) owned by Robyn Davies and shown by Jessica Gilliam.
