At age 29, Dawn Baker, of Sunbury, Ohio, will join the ranks of top female riders such as Katy Jo Zuidema, Tina Kaven and Trisha Yamber as she is inducted into the National Snaffle Bit Association’s $250,000 Club later this year.

“I had absolutely no idea, we weren’t keeping track of my earnings or anything” Baker says. “When I got the call from Nicole Barnes at NSBA I was just so excited I jumped up and down.”

Dawn is well known for her expertise in Hunter Under Saddle classes, but she has also shown several decorated Western Pleasure contenders, like 2012 NSBA Green Western Pleasure World Champion Allured To Chocolate to add to her lifetime earning tally.

Baker says she is grateful for the amazing team around her, especially her family, Duane and Heidi Piper and her brother Chad, who helped her get her start in horses. She is also very grateful for her husband, Brian, and all the hard work and talent he puts in with the futurity horses.

The NSBA formed the Quarter Million Dollar Club in 2011. Riders (open and non-pro) are inducted once they record earnings totaling $250,000. All NSBA earnings, 1984 to present, count in a rider’s earning figures. Baker’s induction will be recognized at the 2014 NSBA Banquet held annually at the NSBA World Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dawn and Brian Baker own and operate Baker Futurity Horses in Sunbury, Ohio. In 2008 they welcomed a son, Bradley Winters, to their family.
