Donations are still being accepted for the 15th Annual Audrey Grace Auction featured on Pleasurehorse.com forum Dec. 12-18.
The auction helps raise funds for the New Horizons Audrey Grace House in Abilene, Texas, part of the Community Center of Care, which provides residential treatment services to children, ages 5 to 17, suffering from emotional, behavioral, and attachment or relationship problems.
Stallion services, tack, jewelry, training services, show clothing, art work and much more will be up for grabs to the highest bidder and InStride Edition has donated a full page, full color camera ready ad to the auction that can be used any month in 2017.
The stallion roster of donated breedings is already filling up with star-studded sires like One Hot Krymsun, Lazy Loper, Machine Made, Willy Be Invited, How Bout This Cowboy, Certain Potential, Huntin For Chocolate, Only In The Moonlight, A Scenic Impulse, Good Machinery, Red White N Good, The Rock, Righteous Invitation, Hes A Cool Hotrod, DGS IndyGo, HBF Iron Man, Invite The Artist, VS Code Blue, The Next Detail, Strutten On The Range, Hez Plum Poison, Coats n Tails , Good Time to Shine , Blazing Hot, Extremely Hot Chips, Nite Moves, Certainly A Vision, A Touch Of Sudden, Whata Vested Asset, Hotti In The House, Zipped Cash, Repeated In Red, VS Code Red, and VS Flatline, just to name a few.
“This is a great opportunity to score a 2017 breeding at a great price as well as helping children in need at the same time,” said organizer Jane Backes, of Dallas, Texas.
Backes, an AQHA and NSBA breeder and competitor started the auction after she and her husband, Leon, lost their daughter, Audrey Grace, at birth in 2002. Since then the auction has raised over $700,000 through the online bidding event and the Backes family matches the money raised, making the total raised $1,400,000. Thanks to sizable additional contribution from the T. Boone Pickens Foundation and the Reese Jones Foundation, the dream for the Audrey Grace House became a reality in 2009 when the first children moved into the facility.
“Each year, the auction raises more than $50,000, every penny of which going directly to the Audrey Grace House,” Backes says. “Our daughter’s memory will be long lived helping children in hard times find nurturing and therapeutic care, in the home named after her. Please know it takes a team effort to accomplish this. Not one donor or bidder, but a family of caring individuals coming together for a common goal – putting children first.”
Tax deductible donations and money raised through the annual online auction continue to help with the full scope of the project. The money is used from purchasing the land, to building the home, maintaining the house, supplying food, clothes, schooling, medical care, hiring Master’s level licensed clinicians who provide the care these children need, and 24 hour caregivers.
Space in the auction is limited so be sure to contact Backes if you’re a stallion owner interested in donating to this great cause. To donate other items, complete the donor form and return it to Backes as soon as possible. Bidding will open on Monday, Dec. 12 and close at 5 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, Dec. 18.
