The North Carolina Quarter Horse Association District V “Endless Summer” AQHA Show this weekend, at the Bob Martin Agriculture Center in Williamston, North Carolina will feature a $10,000 added Green Western Pleasure Class on Saturday, thanks to a generous donation by Cecilia Hylton, Gainesville, Virginia.
Hylton has deep roots in the industry. She purchased her first Quarter Horse mare to show in 1989 and since then has developed a premier breeding operation that spans from Virginia to Texas. Hylton shows in both Performance Halter and Western Pleasure events and owns Invitation To Flash, 2008 AQHA World Champion Performance Halter Stallion and AQHA Honor Roll High Point Green Western Pleasure Stallion as well as Slip Slyden Away, 2008 NRHA World Champion in Senior Reining and 2009 AQHA World Champion in Senior Reining. She developed the $50,000 Added Hylton 3 & Over Western Pleasure Maiden Futurity, held annually at the Virginia Classic Quarter Horse Show and this year was inducted into the Virginia Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame.
The entry fee for the Hylton $10,000 added Green Western Pleasure was $650 ($500 of that is jackpotted) was due by Aug. 15 but you can still enter by paying the entry fee plus a $350 late fee by Aug. 23.
The Highest Placing Limited Rider in this class will receive a free breeding to a Hylton Quarter Horse stallion of their choice.
The show, sanctioned by both the AQHA and the NCQHA will feature a full slate of Halter and Performance classes as well as added money 4-H classes in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure. Action gets under way at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 with Trail, Western Riding, Ranch Horse and Reining in Open, Amateur and Youth divisions.
Halter Gelding classes will begin sharply at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning in the main arena, with the rest of the Halter divisions and Showmanship running throughout the morning. Following a short break the rail classes will start off the afternoon’s competition with Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation, Western Pleasure and Horsemanship classes to follow. Random Trail classes will be offered outside between 1 and 4 p.m. and Random Western Riding classes will follow 4-5 p.m. and Ranch Horse Pleasure and Reining will wrap up the day’s competition outside and are not expected to start before 5 p.m.
The Hyton $10,000 added Green Western Pleasure will be presented in the main arena following the conclusion of the Horsemanship classes.
Circuit awards will be given for each class and you must show under all three judges. All-Around awards will be given for Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, Amateur, Select Amateur and Open. High Point Awards for Small Fry, Novice Youth, Rookie Youth, Novice Amateur, and Rookie Amateur.
