If you’re bringing a Breeders’ Futurity-eligible Paint to the 2015 APHA World Championship Show November 5–15, give your horse an extra shot at bonus cash by paying him into the APHA Breeders’ Futurity. The first of two payments must be postmarked by July 15, so don’t delay. Entry forms are available online at apha.com/programs/breedersfuturity.

Established in 2009, the Breeders’ Futurity is a prestigious competition featuring the finest American Paint Horses and exhibitors in the world competing in a select slate of classes that showcase the offspring of APHA Breeders’ Trust–subscribed stallions and the mares bred to these stallions. Taking part in conjunction with the APHA World Show in Fort Worth, Texas, the Breeders’ Futurity helps increase the value of Breeders’ Trust foals. Each class pays back 95 percent of the purse to the foal owner/lessee and five percent to the mare nominator.

The Breeders’ Futurity is divided into four levels of competition:

• Gold—For Regular Registry offspring of stallions whose breeding fees are at or above the Breeders’ Trust Private Treaty fee ($700)
• Silver—For Regular Registry offspring of stallions whose breeding fees are lower than the Breeders’ Trust Private Treaty fee. ($699 & below)
• Bronze—For Solid Paint-Bred offspring of all stallions, regardless of stud fee.
• Platinum—An elite weanling halter futurity in addition to the Breeders’ Futurity division above; foals are made eligible for this division by the stallion owner, who pays a $100 nomination for every mare listed on the Stallion Breeding Report. These foals are also eligible to enter one of the other applicable divisions, provided all requirements, fees and payments are met. 

To be eligible for the Breeders’ Futurity, foals must be sired by Breeders’ Trust-subscribed stallions; the mare owner/lessee pays a $100 nomination fee to make her foal eligible for these special classes and payouts. Foals must be enrolled in the Breeders’ Trust, and they are automatically eligible for the Breeders’ Futurity when the mares’ nomination fees are paid. Payments for Breeders’ Futurity classes are only paid for the year(s) in which the foal will be shown in these classes, and the divisional-based fees covers all Breeders’ Futurity classes in which your Paint might be entered. The first payment is due July 15, and the second is due September 15. The detailed APHA World Show schedule will be available in mid-July; available Breeders’ Futurity classes will include:
