Highrange Ranch and the Porter family are pleased to announce the beginning of a new chapter for leading AQHA stallion Hubba Hubba Huntin. Alexis and Brandon Wrobbel of Iron W Ranch have taken the reins as Hubba’s new owners.
“We are very excited to announce that Alexis and Brandon will be continuing on with our dream of breeding high quality show horses for those who enjoy showing fun horses with laid back attitudes,” said Breanne (Porter) Wood.
The 2004 bay stallion by Huntin For Chocolate and out of Hubba Hubba Hotrod earned quite an extensive show record. In 2008 he won the Amateur Performance Halter Stallions at the Quarter Horse Congress and claimed a Reserve Championship in Junior Western Riding. He returned in 2009 to win the Junior Western Riding.
“Our family has had a some big life changes and have been making some changes to the role we will be playing in the horse industry. We plan to keep a very small breeding program, but focus on our show horses. We will be continuing to promote Hubba through our horses in the show pen,” said Wood. “We have several up-and-coming youngsters including No Doubt Hubbout it and a yearling colt named Hubbout Me Forever. The plan is to continue to be active in Hubba’s legacy by working closely with Alexis and Brandon, and promoting his babies. We are Hubba fans for life.”
Hubba Hubba Huntin foals have earned Congress and World Championship titles, as well as NSBA World Championship titles and numerous futurity wins. In all, they have amassed 3,151.5 AQHA points and $196,522.88 in AQHA Incentive Fund, AQHA World Championship Show and NSBA Earnings.
In 2019 Hubba Hubba Huntin was named the #3 AQHA Hunter Under Saddle Stallion and had eight money earners record $44,1787 in AQHA winnings, with Hez A Dancin Hubba, a 2016, brown gelding out of These Irons R Dancin, leading the list with $15,849.
Brandon and Alexis Wrobbel have built their Iron W Ranch located in Edmond, Oklahoma around an impressive foundation in their breeding program with great mares, including Dont Capture Me, a NSBA World Champion by Dont Skip Zip who is currently in foal to VS Goodride. Traded Coats, a 2008 mare by Coats N Tails who has placed in the Top 5 at the Congress multiple times and earned a Superior in Hunter Under Saddle. As well as a 3/4 sibling to Pass The Tequila, Colossal Assets and Sensational Asset. The Wrobbels are hoping to strengthen their program with the addition of Hubba Hubba Huntin to their family.
“Brandon and I are extremely thankful for the opportunity to own such an incredible stallion. We have loved and have bred to Hubba in the past. Whenever I go to Texas to ride, one of my first stops is to visit with him,” Alexis said. “I am so excited to work with mare owners, I have been on the other side of the breeding program so I think that will be really beneficial when it comes to helping owners not just with breeding, but also with marketing, showing and even selling Hubba’s foals. Brandon and I built Iron W Ranch with the dream of bettering the breed of the American Quarter Horse and with the addition of Hubba Hubba Huntin to our program we are taking a big step in that direction.”
Hubba Hubba Huntin will continue to stand at Highpoint Performance Horses in Pilot Point, Texas for the 2021 breeding season. The Wrobbels are also planning on implementing more incentives for Hubba foals starting with a $500 added Non-Pro Maturity Hunter Under Saddle this September at the Arizona Fall Classic.
