Industry mourns loss of legendary broodmare Goodbars Glamourgirl

Goodbars Glamourgirl

Tim and Barb Delf, of Blue Grass, Iowa, report the death of legendary American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) broodmare, Goodbars Glamourgirl today just two weeks before her 21st birthday.

Sired by Zippos Mr Good Bar and out of Mitos Magic Moment, Goodbars Glamourgirl is an all-time leading AQHA dam. Her foals have earned over 5,100 AQHA points.

“Those who know us, know what she meant to Barb and me, Tim Delf announced on his Facebook page. “She is the dam of Multiple AQHA World Champions, NSBA World Champions and Congress Champions. Thank you to all the owners and trainers that made this possible.”

The Delfs bought the unshown gray mare in 1998 from her breeder and a friend, Bryan Fix, of Runnells, Iowa. He raised her as a pleasure prospect.

Cool Assets

“We bought her when he switched from Pleasure to Reining horses,” Tim Delf has said about the cornerstone of his breeding program. “She was 16.1 hands tall, big framed with withers higher than her hip and really pretty. Her dam had already produced Goodbars Going Grey, a Superior Western Pleasure horse. Buying her was a no brainer for us.”

Perhaps best known of Goodbars Glamourgirl’s offspring is Cool Assets, an AQHA World Champion, High Point Champion and Quarter Horse Congress Champion.

Some of her other outstanding offspring include Hard Assets, earner of 116 AQHA points in Open and Amateur Western Pleasure; All The Good Details, a Congress Champion and AQHA Amateur Champion with 283 points; Good As Always, earner of over 220 points in Open and Amateur Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle; Oops I Am Good, earner of over 1,430 AQHA points, AQHA Amateur and Youth Championships and Top Five in the nation in Junior Trail; Nothin Compares, third in Junior Western Riding at the AQHA World Show, NSBA World Champion in Western Riding and earner of over 290 AQHA points; Only Temptation, earner of over 360 AQHA points; I Am Good II, Reichert Celebration Western Pleasure Champion and ROM earner with over 26 AQHA points; and Only A Glamourgirl, earner of 68 AQHA points in Western Pleasure and Trail.

Good As Always

Condolence messages have been pouring in including one from Debbi Trubee, Mentor, Ohio, who wrote: “I can’t tell you how sorry I am to hear this. Glamourgirl was such a sweet mare in addition to being an incredible producer. Hugs to all of you.”

And Lisa Merfeld, of Clive, Iowa, wrote: “I know she meant a lot to you and many more. Her legacy will continue through her offspring.”
