Services for Joseph “Joe” Giles Parrish, 67 of Pavo will be held at 2PM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church. Bobby Wiard and Dr. Jimmy Clanton will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Parrish passed away April 25, 2017 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born March 31, 1950 in Ochlocknee, he was the son of the late Clifford Parrish and Marie Giles Parrish. On July 19, 2015 he married S. Jane Parrish, who survives.
Mr. Parrish was a veteran of the United States Army and was a 30 year firefighter for the City of Thomasville. He was a member of New Jerusalem Freewill Baptist Church and a former longtime member of Pavo Baptist Church. He loved donkeys and had a great love for horses. He loved hauling horses with his nephew Bret Parrish and selling cowboy hats with his nephew Brook Parrish.
He never met a stranger, he loved people, his family and eating fish. He is also survived by his son, Cole Parrish and wife Heather of Cairo; bonus daughters, Tracey Riddle of Moultrie and Terry Williams and husband Vincent of Cairo; grandchildren, Kiff Parrish, Kinley Parrish, Jami Joiner, Morgan Williams, and Michael Riddle; great-grandchildren, Carson Conrad, Kinley Conrad and Aria Conrad; brother, Greg Parrish of Pavo; 4 nephews, 1 great niece and 3 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kiff Parrish. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, 919 South Broad St, Thomasville, Ga 31792 or, Pavo Baptist Church, PO Box 187, Pavo, Ga 31778 or, New Jerusalem Freewill Baptist Church, 296 New Jerusalem Church Rd, Moultrie, Ga, 31788 . The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
