SaddleThe Keystone Classic Appaloosa Horse Show wrapped up another year with great numbers, great fun and a great response from exhibitors.

Featured over the Memorial weekend at the Dream Park in South Logan Township, New Jersey, the show got started bright and early on Friday with the 13 & Under Trail class.  Donuts, bagels and muffins were provided to the exhibitors and spectators, courtesy of Federal Pretzel Company and Uptown Bakeries.

Trail classes opened this year’s show with action in Youth, Open and Non-Pro divisions. The Senior Trail drew a total of 28 entries while 18 Non-pro exhibitors negotiated the course.

Hunter In Hand classes followed Trail competition with Longe Line, Prairie Stumps and Rope Race wrapping up the day’s activities.

Over 300 stalls were rented for the weekend with exhibitors traveling from as far away as Missouri, Michigan and Maine, to show in what has been the largest regional Appaloosa Show in the country for the past seven years.

“Just after Rope Race we held our exhibitors party attended by over 200 people,” says Show Manager Amanda Check. “ Barbecue chicken, pulled pork, green bean casserole, baked beans, potato salad and corn on the cob were served and were delicious.  Jack and Debbie Mignosi of Hickory Run Farm, provided soda and water.  The dinner was a great chance for everyone to socialize and relax after the first day of showing.”

Halter classes got things started bright and early on Saturday with Keyhole, Stake Race, Saddle Seat Pleasure and Equitation being featured in the afternoon. Pleasure Driving, English Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation wrapped up the day’s competition.

Nez Perce Stake Races will get things started at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday with Western Showmanship, Western Pleasure and Horsemanship to follow.

I’m very pleased with our horse show,” Check says. “It’s amazing to see something that the Keystone Appaloosa Club board and volunteers have prepared for over the past year come together into this amazing horse show that people want to keep coming back to year after year.  We truly wouldn’t be able to do this show of this caliber without the dedicated volunteers and sponsorships that we receive.”

Judges for this year’s Keystone Classic were : Terry Sartain, Karen Sartain, Daniel Whitehouse and Joan Santos Whitehouse.
