According to Abi Owings Tuiasosopo owning Lexus Made Lady has been nothing short of a dream come true and now this accomplished mare has been named the 2016 NSBA Horse of the Year.

Each year the National Snaffle Bit Association’s Board of Directors presents one outstanding horse the prestigious Horse of the Year Award. The award is based on NSBA participation; show record and points earned in that year. This year the honor has been bestowed upon the 2013 bay mare by Machine Made and out of RLs Lexus Lady.

“It has been both humbling and surreal, I even cried today when they called me,” Tuiasosopo said. “I also realize this is not an accomplishment that is achieved alone. God placed this horse in our hands and gave my trainer the tools to help refine her. It truly feels like a dream.”

Owned by Anchored Soul LLC and shown by Tuiasosopo in Non-Pro and AQHA trainer Cody Parrish in Open, Lexus Made Lady had quite a year recording wins in the $2,500 Limited Horse at the Tom Powers Futurity; the 3-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure at the NSBA World Show and All American Quarter Horse Congress with Cody in the saddle. Not to be outdone Tuiasosopo loped her way to the winner’s circle with championships in the 3-Year-Old Limited Non-Pro Western Pleasure at the Little Futurity, Tom Powers Futurity, NSBA World Show and a Reserve Congress Championship. Lexus Made Lady ended the year with over $57,000 in NSBA earnings.

“If you know me, you know I believe in the power of prayer. To be very honest Iggy was an answer to many prayers,” Tuiasosopo said. “What makes her special is that she is naturally so athletic. She has a special look and softness in her eye. Cody saw her potential, worked hard, and believed in her. I am forever thankful for his, Bret and Candy’s dedication to both Iggy and I.”

Lexus Made Lady will be recognized this August at the NSBA Awards Banquet held during the NSBA World Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“My husband, boys, family and friends encouraged, supported and pushed me,” Tuiasosopo said. “I continue to look out, thankful, and knowing no accomplishment like this is achieved alone.”

This year the trio will focus on the Maturity Western Pleasure and they have already discussed the possibility of adding Western Riding to their repertoire. Tuiasosopo is also looking forward to the opportunity of raising a baby out of Lexus Made Lady and watching them grow up.
