MrSherlockHolmes Brian Baker-Webre jog 3-14 REV 2Nestled in the small, Gulf Coast, Texas town of Hempstead is Mary Iris Webre’s farm,  “Casa De Los Cielos,” where she raises top Western Pleasure and all around prospects.  It is also the home of Chips Hot Chocolate, Admit It Im Good,  Allured to Chocolate and Imcrusininahotrod.

Many years ago, Webre fell in love with horses and her passion has only grown as have her friends in the industry.

In fact, Webre has known Brian Baker of Sunbury, Ohio since he graduated from college and was working with trainer, Jay Jordan.

Baker keeps several horses in training for Webre, including his current prospect, Mr Sherlock Holmes, a 2011, sorrel

stallion by Zippos Mr Good Bar out of Don’t Skip Krymsun.  Don’t Skip Krymsun is an Honor Roll Western Pleasure producer by Don’t Skip Zip out of Krymsun Jet Set, the mother of industry greats such as One Hot Krymsun, Good Luck Girl and Repeated In Red.  Baker will be debuting Sherlock in the $50,000 Hylton Maiden 3-Year-Old & Over Open Western Pleasure Futurity at the Virginia Classic in Lexington, Virginia on April 12.

Webre is a big fan of the Hylton Maiden Class and has previously attended the event.

“I think it’s a really good pleasure futurity because if your horse performs well it will  help with recognition  in later futurities,” she says.

Baker first got to take a look at Sherlock in 2011 at Webre’s farm, when the colt was just a yearling.

“The first time I saw him move in the round pen, I got goose bumps,” he recalls. “ He lifted and loped out of his shoulders and was equally as good in his hocks.  Our goal for Sherlock  was always the 3-Year-Old Novice events.’

Sherlock was started at Webre’s farm and has been in the Baker program since the Tom Powers Futurity last year.

“He is very gentle, for a stallion, and good to be around,” says Baker. “ I’m very excited to ride such a talented and trainable individual.  I plan to continue to show him in a few more Novice Horse events and move him up to the Open 3-Year-Old events as well.”

Webre has high hopes that the young stallion will follow in his family’s illustrious foot steps.

“That’s quite a large order,”  she says.

Once he completes a successful show career Webre plans to retire him to her farm in Hempsted, where he will stand at stud.  He will join a list of superior performance stallions standing to the public, including Admit It Im Good,  Imcrusininahotrod and Allured To Chocolate.
