The Horse of the Year award is designed to represent the best horse in a given year. Each year the Board of Directors will present the Horse of the Year Award to the owner of the horse, which is most deserving of this prestigious award based on NSBA participation, show record and points earned in that year. This year, the National Snaffle Bit Association recognizes For One Night Only as the recipient for the 2015 Horse of the Year.
As a three year old, For One Night Only saw a year filled with a whirlwind of success and was undefeated in three year old Western Pleasure events. Affectionately known as Sid, the gelding has been winning classes left and right since his two year old year and last year was no exception. In 2015, he won both the Breeders Championship Futurity Three-Year-Old Open and Non-Pro Western Pleasure, in addition to the NSBA World Championship Trophy in the Three-Year-Old Open and Non-Pro Western Pleasure.
“Sid is just so naturally talented, that’s what I like best about him. As a futurity horse, he was one of the bigger and stronger ones, but still had the softness it takes,” said Hillary Roberts of Capital Quarter Horses, LLC. “If he trusts you, he’ll give you his all. Everything you ask of him he can do, effortlessly. Having the opportunity to be part of his success has been a blessing.”
The bay gelding by Invitation Only and out of Radical Zippette, by Radical Rodder, has acquired over $80,000 in NSBA lifetime earnings. Nearly half of that total was accumulated in 2015 alone. Sid piloted his owners Susan and Hillary Roberts to not only multiple NSBA World Championship titles, but also Congress Championships and AQHA Top Ten placings in the Western Pleasure.
About NSBA
Established in 1983, the National Snaffle Bit Association has expanded from its roots of the pleasure horse to recognize various disciplines and eight breed associations in competition. NSBA’s programs uphold keeping the welfare of the horse as the primary consideration in all activities and encourage the use of standard rules for holding and judging events.
