The National Snaffle Bit Association World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity got under way today in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure World Show and BCF classes in the Ford Truck Arena and Trail, Horsemanship and Western Riding in the Mustang Arena.
In the first class of the day Sara Simons reamed with Ms Silver Sensation to win the BCF 3-6-Year-Old Open Color Hunter Under .
Kathie Kennedy, Ocala, Florida, recorded a win in the BCF Color Open Longe Line with Stanley and Susan Scott’s entry, A Scenic Ride. Later in the day Kenny Lakins showed Im Fancy Schmancy to victory in the BCF Open Western Longe Line for owners Kim & Randy Haines.
Doodle Jump, a 2010 bay gelding by Good I Will Be and out of Sum Iron, won the 3-6-Year-Old Limited Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle with Jenna Jacobs, Youngstown, Ohio, in the irons.
Shane Pope rode Shesa Hotrodin Gal to a win in the Green Color Horse Open Western Pleasure. Shesa Hotrodin Gal is owned by Linda Williams of Conway, South Carolina.
Snap Krackle Pop was the winner of the BCF 4-6-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure with Blake Weiss aboard.
A total of 46 BCF classes are offered this year for foals enrolled in the program. Last year BCF classes paid out $210,990.
Another $279,396 was awarded last year in World Championship classes. This year the NSBA has added Performance Halter Mares, Performance Halter Geldings and A Get Of Sires Halter Class, all sanctioned by the World Conformation Horse Association, to the schedule. Also new this year are the following World Championship Color Classes: Green Western Pleasure, 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure; Maturity Open Western Pleasure; All-Age Non-Pro Western Pleasure; Green Hunter Under Saddle; Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle; All-Age Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle; and Open Trail.
In addition, a full slate of classes for Riders With Disabilities will be offered throughout the week and the NSBA will once again hold special competition for Heroes On Horseback, for any current or former member of the armed forces.
On Wednesday the NSBA will honor 2013 High-Point winners and award recipients at a banquet held at the Doubletree Hotel-Warren Place.
For the second straight year a yearling sale will be held during the week. The 2014 catalog features 95 horses and a sale preview is planned on Thursday. In 2013 72 yearlings were sold at auction and those sale graduates are eligible to return to compete for a purse of $68,000 if they are enrolled in the BCF.
