Our long time friend Rick McMasters of Madison, Tenn., passed away on March 14 after suffering a heart attack. He was a great asset to the Pinto Horse Association of America and will be greatly missed. Our deepest condolences go out to the McMasters family.

Rick was heavily involved with judging, holding judges cards with the PtHA, APHA, ApHC and POA. He was inducted into the Pinto Judge’s Hall of Fame in 2010 and held the position of Vice Chairman of the PtHA Judges Committee. He was also the judges coordinator for the Pinto World Championship and the Color Breed Congress.

“Rick’s presence in the arena always put a smile on my face,” said Darrell Bilke, PtHA Executive Vice President and COO. “The equine industry lost an esteemed judge and a true horseman. Thank you, Rick, for helping make our world show and congress what they are today.”

The McMasters family has established a scholarship fund through the Pinto Heritage Foundation in Rick’s name. Donations can be mailed to the Rick McMasters Memorial Youth Scholarship at:
