“All money all the time” is the slogan for the Show For The Dough all breed event now under way at the Paul Battle Arena in Tunica, Mississippi.

The brand new show, which continues through Sunday, offers classes open to any recognized breed in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail, Western Riding, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation and Riders With Disabilities.

There are a number of divisions including: Walk-Trot; Novice Youth and Youth; Novice Amateur, Amateur and Select, as well as Green, Junior and Senior. There are categories for the Limited, Intermediate and Open divisions of both Non-Pro and Open competition. And additional classes are divided by the age of the horse competing.

The highlight of the show is the $10,000 Added 3-Year-Old $2,500 Limited Horse Western Pleasure Signature Class on Saturday. The entry fee for that class is $1,000 and all money collected, plus the $10,000 added money, will be paid right back to the class participants.

Officiating at this year’s event are: Scott Neuman, Russ Smith, Brett Clark, Rick Christy, Clint Fullerton and MikeTovoli.

The concept for Show For The Dough was developed following a casual conversation between show organizers Charles Cannizzaro, David Dellin and Brad Jewett. Their goal was to establish a show where the emphasis was on shorter days, a greater number of divisions for riders and a 100 percent payback of entry right at the show.

“It’s designed with the exhibitor in mind,” Cannizzaro said.“The show is simply the first of its kind, where exhibitors can win money in every class. It’s an opportunity for everyone – even all-arounders to show for money.

The entry fees start at $25, for Riders With Disabilities and Walk-Trot classes.  Novice Amateur and Youth classes are $50 and Open and Non-Pro classes range from $75 to $500.In every class, 100 percent of the entry fees are paid back to the riders. There is added money in many of the classes, including $2,500 for the Trail Sweepstakes.

If ten head are entered in a class, and the entry fee is $100 dollars, the total purse will be $1,000, paid back on the NSBA payout schedule, in the rulebook, according to show management. There is also added money in many of the classes. The hope is that, with enough industry support, the added money will increase over time.”

Classes held Wednesday included Green, Junior and Senior Western Riding, Maturity $2,500 Limited Rider Western Pleasure, Junior Western Pleasure, Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Western Pleasure, 3 year old Limited Open Western Pleasure and Maturity Intermediate Open Western Pleasure.

Thursday’s classes are: Limited Open Western PleasureMaturity; Open Green Western Pleasure; 3-Year-Old$2,500 Limited Rider Western Pleasure; Open Western Pleasure Maturity; Green Hunter Under Saddle; Open Hunter Under Saddle Maturity; Limited Open 3-Year-OldHunter Under Saddle; Senior Hunter Under Saddle;Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle Maturity.

Cannizzaro said he hopes the show will become a model for other events and venues across the country. Additional Show For The Dough events are already in the planning stages.
