Record temperatures in Conyers, Georgia didn’t hinder exhibitors from competing in record numbers at the Stars and Stripes and Big A Circuits. The two week long event features two AQHA shows as well as the second leg of the Premier Quarter Sires, Show For Dough and a Huntfield Derby.
Brittany Andrews piloted Faith Is Certain to her third win this year in the Premier Quarter Sires 3-year-old Limited Horse Limited Rider Western Pleasure for Lee and Brenda Looney. So far this year Brittany and Faith Is Certain have earned over $30,000 in both the Premier Quarter Sires and Premier Paint Sires classes. They took home a check for $8,900 from this leg and the total payout from the class was $25,000. The Looneys also own Faith Is Certain’s sire, Pleasure For Certain and were presented with a custom belt buckle for having the highest producing wester pleasure stallion. It has been quite a year for them and they were excited to finally have the opportunity to see their horse perform in person.
“We missed the first two legs that Brittany showed in,” Lee Looney said. “On the way here we were joking that maybe we shouldn’t come, since we don’t want to jinx her, but we are so excited for all the success they have has this year and we are truly grateful to the Premier Quarter Sires for offering such a great event.”
On the hunter under saddle side of competition Julian Harris showed Al Wayz On Your Mind for Sarah Nimigan to win the 3-year-old Limited Horse Limited Rider Hunter Under Saddle and walked away with a check for $8,800 with only a $250 entry fee. Al Wayz On Your Mind has been lighting up the hunter under saddle arena all year since Florida trainer Katy Jo Zuidema found him in a field while on vacation.
“He’s just a really really cool horse,” Sarah said. “When we got him he didn’t know a thing, not his leads, nothing. I can’t believe how far he has come in such a short time.”
Judges for the event included Benny Sargent, Mike Edwards, Kerry Allen, Robbin Jung, Michael Jung, John Briggs, Rita Timpanaro Daren Wright, Clint Fullerton, Jerry Erickson, Jennifer Powell, Megan MacCallum, Jennifer Leckey, Holly Hover, Rhonda Replogle, Brent Maxwell, Gayle Lampinen, Kim Leiter, Cindy Hale, Anne Laise, Dee Thomas, Dawn Clason, Tyson Furlong and Laura Norment.
