DSC_6758Show Secretary Diane Gage reports 300-plus stalls have been rented for the Texas Memorial Day Spectacular – Zone 4 Zone-O- Rama at the Heart O’ Texas Fairgrounds, in Waco, Texas and with day one of three over it appears entries will be up slightly over last year’s show.

The show got under way Saturday with over fences classes followed by Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, Pleasure Driving and Trail.

New to the schedule this year will be the presentation of Ranch Horse Pleasure classes on Sunday.

“We have also added an exhibitor’s reception this year and updated rewards for winners,” Gage says.

This marks the first year Samantha Stubblefield is competing at the Texas Memorial Day Spectacular. She started her show career in walk-trot three years ago and now competes aboard Im Zipped Alright in Hunter Under Saddle, Showmanship, Trail and Horsemanship, mainly in the Novice Youth division.

“Today I got five firsts out of six judges in Hunter Under Saddle,” she says.

Michelle Forsen was excited to be showing her horse, Zipped For Billie in Hunter Under Saddle at this year’s show. She attended last year as well.

“This show is right down the road for me and the class sizes are all nice,” Forsen says.

The Sunday schedule opens with Halter classes, followed by Showmanship, Longe Line, Ranch Horse Pleasure, Reining and concludes with speed events.

Western Riding, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship and Western Riding will be featured on Monday.

“We had 800 total entries last year and as of today we already have 700 so it looks like we will be as big or bigger this year,” Gage says. “Everything has been great, and running smooth, and we are on track to surpass last year.”

Judges for this year’s show are: Robert Dehn, Jason Contreras, Michele Pearson, Bruce Army, Darrell Bilke and Sally Puzacki.
