Trainers, exhibitors, vendors and spectators joined together for the 2018 Buckeye Classic at The World Equestrian Center located in Wilmington, Ohio.

The show began on Tuesday, July 13, 2018 with NSBA classes followed by the first NCEA Junior Medal Horsemanship and YEDA Challenge. A member of Bay Hill YEDA team, sophomore Brianna Merklin was named Champion aboard Prinzziples N Cash earning $800 and Reserve Champion, Cora Wyers aboard Good N Certain earning $300.

“I wasn’t expecting to come out with that win, it was truly breathtaking,” Merklin said. “This win showed me how much YEDA has allowed me grow and become a better rider.” She hopes to continue her riding career becoming involved with a collegiate team after graduating from high school. “I like colleges that feel like home with team members that hold a close bond and coaches who offer positive support.”

Vendor and artist Sarah Lockwood-Taylor introduces her magnificent interest of artwork to the horse industry. “This is my first time attending The Buckeye,” she said. “Overall, I’ve had a great response in the horse world for all disciplines, my pieces are time consuming but very therapeutic.” Sarah demonstrates two different styles of unique artwork, offering original and custom pieces to customers. She looks forward to potentially showcasing her artwork at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio.
