Since the mid 1970’s the Virginia Quarter Horse Association’s Spring Breakout show has been the season opener for thousands of horses, owners and spectators. This weekend’s show was no different. Exhibitors from across the east coast came to Lexington, Virginia to start the 2015 show season amongst the southern hospitality of the Virginia Horse Center and Lexington community.

Sanctioned by the American Quarter Horse Association, Virginia Quarter Horse Association and Southern Maryland Quarter Horse Association the split-combined format kicked off Saturday. Opening up with trail, English events, western riding, reining and ranch pleasure Judges Judd Paul, Larry Little, Rhonda Replogle and Tony Burris saw many large classes. The biggest class of the day was the Open Ranch Pleasure with 30 entries. The weekend wrapped up with halter, western pleasure and horsemanship on Sunday after seeing over 2,100 entries enter the gates of the Anderson Coliseum.
