This year’s Tom Powers Yearling Sale catalog is now available and it includes 85 horses that represent some of the best bloodlines in the pleasure industry today.
Starting with Lot#1, Suspicious Mynds, a bay gelding, sired by Elvis On Impulse and out of Zans Butler Bar, and ending with Lot #85, Who Mmade Who, a bay colt by Machine Made (earner of 234 AQHA points and $44,000) and out of Who’s Cheating Who (by Hunting For Chocolate), the sale is the premier event this year for showcasing young prospects.
The sale, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 2, during the 2016 Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity in Berrien Springs, Michigan, following the conclusion of the futurity’s featured event, the Sale Stakes Class.
The gross sales for last year’s event totaled $991,000 with a sale average of $13,220. The high seller brought $65,000.
Yearlings that go through the sale are micro-chipped and will be eligible to return for next year’s Sale Stakes Class. This year’s Sale Stakes Class has a total purse of $65,000 and both an open and limited division will be offered. In addition, Harris Leather will give out the “Harris Challenge” award again this year: $3,000 to the Open winner if riding a Harris saddle and $1,000 to the Limited division rider if riding in a Harris saddle.
“Our sale average was up again for 2015,” Powers said. “The comments from the industry are very positive. I think we will run it exactly as before.”
Alan Parker Auctions will present the 2016 sale.
