Tyler Achtenhagen rides Hotrod This to Madness Slot Win

Tyler Achtenhagen rode Hotrod This, a 2010 bay gelding by RL Best Of Sudden and out of Hotroddin Good Time (by Good Asset), to a win in the 3-Year-Old & Over Western Pleasure Slot Class at theMadness Show at Roberts Arena, Wilmington, Ohio today, earning a check for $11,250 Pete Garcia, Ocala Florida is the breeder and owner of Hotrod This and also showed his dam.

 

This is such a great show and facility. They did a lot of improvements from last year.  Tyler had a very consistent ride and we are very happy with the result,” Garcia says. “I bred and raised the colt. He is by RL Best of Sudden out of our show mare Hotrodin Good Time.”

 

 

Achtenhagen earned a $3,000 bonus because he was riding in a Harris saddle and another $1,000 for being the highest placing Limited Rider, bringing his total earnings in the class to $15,250

 

A total of 30 horses competed in the class.  To be eligible horses must not have earned over $2,500 and/or not more than 25 points. 

 

The class, judged by Chad Evans, Kelly McDowall, Holly Hoover and Valerie Kearns (the tiebreaker judge), actually ended in a tie between Achtenhagen and Hotrod This and Brian Cox aboard Really Sudden, owned by Rhonda Malone, Orange, California, but Achtenhagen won the tiebreaker.

 

Really Sudden, a 2011 sorrel gelding, also sired by RL Best Of Sudden, is out of Mae Daze (by Radical Rodder) and was bred by Steve Martin, Brenham, Kansas.

 

  One Lazy Chip, owned by James Plumb and ridden by Jeff Cochran, earned a $5,000 bonus for being the highest placing Maiden entry. Im Just So Lazy, owned by Delores Barrett and shown by Taft Dickerson was the Reserve Champion Maiden entry earning a bonus of $2,500.

 
Brandon Burr was the Reserve Limited Rider aboard Im The Dude, owned by Allen and Marilyn Wade, earning a bonus of $500.

The Madness AQHA circuit is presented by the Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association.
