Wells wins Southern Ohio Slot aboard A Certain Amble

Cleve Wells of Burleson, Texas rode Linda Ball Sargent’s 4-year-old by stallion, A Certain Amble to a win in the Novice Horse Western Pleasure Slot class this weekend at the Madness In March AQHA Show Circuit in Wilmington, Ohio, earning a $15,000 paycheck.

A Certain Amble is by Certain Potential out of four-time AQHA World Champion Zippos Amblin Easy. She was a AQHA World Champion in 3 divisions (1993 World Champion Jr. Western Pleasure mare, 1994 AQHA World Champion Youth Western Pleasure mare, 1994 World Champion Amateur Western Pleasure horse). She was also Youth Res. World Champion in 1995 and 1998. A Certain Amble was bred by Jerry Kimmel of Granbury, Texas, and purchased by Sargent just over a year ago.

The slot class, which drew a total of 25 entries was judged by Curtis Reynolds. Becky Schooler, Jonathan Meilleur and Kendra Weiss. Placing second was Ashley Lakins, of Waynesville, Ohio, Ohio riding My Impulses Are Good for owner Stephanie Mosier. They take home $7,500. Other top 10 placings include:

Third: $5,000 Casey Willis, of Advance, Missouri, and The Candy Machine, owned by Emily Carroll, $5,000

Fourth: Jeff Long, Siler City, North Carolina, and Fullmoonouttonight, owned by for Richard and Elise Cognetti, $3,500.

Tie for Fifth & Sixth: Kenny Lakins, Waynesville, Ohio, and A Wish Right Now, owned by Stanley and Susan Scott, $2,750.

Tie for Fifth & Sixth: Katie Jo Zuidema, Micanopy, Florida, and She Sure Is Hot, owned by Nettie Olsen, $2,750.

Seventh: Rusty Green of Pilot Point, Texas and Rock County Kid, owned by T. Sharnai Thompson, $2,000.

Eighth: Brian Cox, of Mt. Perry, Ohio, and Slammegood, owned by Sherri Hennis, $1,500.

Ninth: Amanda Ringer and KM Best N Sheik, owned by Ken & Marilyn Masterson, Somerville, Tennessee.

10th: Karen Hornick, of Jamestown, Ohio, and Sophistikated Kiss, owned by Laura and Jerry Bracken.

Ringer and KM Best N Sheik was the class’ Limited Champion and Reserve Limited Champion was Chase Barnes of Warren, Pennsylvania, and Version Mary, owned by Rosa Warfsman. The Maiden winner in the class was Donnie Recchiuti, of Heath, Ohio, and Whenthedealisdone, owned by Beth Lepping. The Reserve Maiden Champion was Zach Favorite, of Kent, Ohio, and A Chrome Cookie, owned y his wife, Michelle Favorite.
