Starnes Quarter Horses, in South Carolina, has announced the addition of North Carolina native Will Burris to its training operation.

“Will and his family’s life-long commitment in North Carolina Quarter Horse Association and AQHA Western Pleasure along with his strong work ethic and talent make him a great fit for Starnes Quarter Horses,” said Kristy Starnes. “We are looking forward to having him on our team!”

Will Burris grew up in North Carolina, the son of AQHA Professional Horseman and judge Tony Burris. Will has always had a passion for horses and Western Pleasure, in particular. This past Christmas he became engaged to his girlfriend, Brianna Tamulewicz. 

Starnes Quarter Horses is owned and operated by Jay and Kristy Starnes on over 50 acres in Manning, South Carolina. The entire facility, which was originally cattle pastures, was designed and built by the Starnes’ to meet the specific needs of a state of the art training facility. The farm boasts a 24-stall heated show barn with two heated wash racks, tack room, multiple storage rooms and office. Mare facilities include seven-stall mare barn with four large, video monitored foaling stalls and individual turn out. Several large pastures with run-in sheds, two turn-out lots for show horses, hay & horse trailer storage shed, covered six horse Priefert Horse Walker & covered 60’ round pen and 120’ x 200’ riding arena are some of the many amenities available.

Jay and Kristy Starnes grew up on horses, so it is no surprise that they each became professional horse trainers at a very young age. Jay was the first rider to log over $1,000,000 in strictly Western Pleasure earnings in 2013.
