Bright lights, big city sets the stage for the 2015 Silver Dollar Circuit held in Las Vegas, Nevada March,17-22 at the South Point Equestrian Center. The South Point Equestrian Center made some big improvements after last year’s show and added two new indoor arenas. This year brought a 30 percent increase in stalls and entry numbers are definitely up from last year with the biggest class being the Senior Trail with 124 entries. Trail course designer for the week was the famous Tim Kimura and his trusty sidekick Laker Monkey.   Judges for the week include Christa Baldwin, Dean Ross, Brent Maxwell, Beckey Schooler, Jeff Pait and Brent Tincher.

This year marks a big year for Jan Bruner, the show’s producer, who celebrated 10 years of running and managing the Silver Dollar Circuit at the South Point Equestrian Center. Jan Bruner always goes above and beyond to make each year at the Silver Dollar Circuit bigger and better for exhibitors and spectators. From the second you arrive at the South Point Equestrian Center the show staff definitely rolls out the red carpet for each and every exhibitor and makes sure everyone always feels at home. From helping unloading trailers, to signing up for classes the show staff at the Silver Dollar Circuit are always there with a smile on their face to lend a helping hand. Through out the week the show staff had lucky exhibitor drawings for a pair of Kimes Ranch Jeans and gift certificates for Scottsdale Western World. There was also an exhibitor sportsmanship award given that was voted on by the exhibitors and the winner was Katie Altenhofel who won a $1,000 gift certificate to D Designs. Woods Western Wear also donated a free pair of custom chaps in the Woods Western Chaps Race. The free pair of custom chaps went to the person who could put on and zip up their chaps the fastest and the big winner was Megan Hawkins.

The Silver Dollar Circuit also offered four futurity classes with money added in each class and a special $500 limited rider award to the highest placing limited rider in each class.

  * Novice Horse Western Pleasure with 11 entries and $5,000 added

       Champion: Brad Jewett riding Cool Shoes Zippo for owner Nancy Creed

   * Maiden Horse Western Pleasure with 4 entries and $1,000 added

        Champion : Shane Dowdy riding Born A Lopin Machine for owner Joseph Mizzi

    * Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle with 4 entries and $2,000 added

         Champion: Beth Case riding The Publication for owner Cynthia Carden

     * Maiden Horse Hunter Under Saddle with 3 entries with $1,000 added

           Champion: Deanna Searles riding Al Be Your Sweet Art for owner Katherine Tobin

After a week of showing the points were tabulated for high point awards and coming home with a brand new Blue Ribbon saddle was :

    * Champion Select Amateur: Dan Yeager and Cee Money

    * Champion Amateur: Brittany Morgan and Huntin For Fun

     * Champion Youth 14-18: Livvie Van Lanen and All But Sudden

Open division and level two high point winners won a three wheel electric scooter.

       “The Silver Dollar Circuit is one of my favorite shows, I definitely plan on coming back next year,” youth exhibitor Livvie Van Lanen said.

       “I love coming to the South Point Equestrian Center because once you get here you never have to leave the facility. Your horse, hotel room and restaurants are all under one roof,” Open exhibitor Keith Boutet said.

       “This is my first year coming to the Silver Dollar Circuit, the facility is amazing, the classes are huge and it’s in Vegas. I will definitely come back next year,” Novice Amateur exhibitor Farrah Andrews.

The 2015 Silver Dollar Circuit is one for the books and if you missed it this year make sure to mark your calendars for 2016 because you won’t want to miss it.
